Getting Started…

I am the oldest of 3 sisters and now I am a junior in college at ASU. The three of us have learned how to take care of our mom since she got sick. We learned how to take care of each other when days get hard. There were days where we would stay with our mom to make sure that she is going okay. There are some days where she needed her space and rest. Some days are mixed where she needs space but also wanted company. Having my sisters made me feel better because whenever we needed each other, they would always be there. If our mom wasn’t feeling good, we would tell one another if one of us doesn’t know so we are more aware of what we need to do.

With kids who have parents with a chronic illness, it can be tough on them and they may not have that support system like my sisters and I. So we decided to create this website "Stripes of a Zebra" so that kids can reach out to us in need of help. They can write their experiences with their parents, reach out, and have this safe space. They are doing their best in every way to make sure that nothing goes wrong.

With this support, there will be many different people each with their own unique story on their parent and how they themselves need support. Like how the stripes on a zebra are unique and different pattern and story, each parent and child has their own set of stripes, their own story and path. We want to be able to have this as a place where you can share your stories and have a whole support system waiting at the tip of your fingertips.
